Question
As a Knicks fan I think that it would be a great under-the-radar move if we got Drew Gooden out of free agency. I mean depending on if we get 1 or 2 of the coveted free agents this summer the reality of the situation is that we are going to lose a lot of players this summer and it would leave our roster rather slim. Right off the bat Tracy MacGrady, hopefully we can buy out Eddy Curry, Chris Duhon, J.R. Giddens, Eddie House, Jonathan Bender, and Eddie House would not be in NY by the end of the summer months. NY may even lose Al Harrington along with these guys and hopefully not so but David Lee may also be with another team next season. Drew Gooden bolsters our depth he can hit the mid range jumper and can play from SF/PF to C. He's also a walking double-double and as a starter this season with the LA Clippers Gooden averaged 14.8 PPG/9.4 RPG in 30 MPG. As a starter/reserve in Dallas he averaged 8.9 PPG/6.9 RPG in 22 MPG. Overall he averaged 10.9 PPG/7.7 RPG in 26 MPG this season. In Chicago he averaged 14 PPG/9 RPG as a starter as well so this is no fluke. And he is a close personal friend of LeBron James as well as a former teammate of his. Getting Drew Gooden would do well in Operation trying to lure LeBron James in.

Answer
It would be a good idea considering that Drew Gooden used to be LeBron's teamate in cleveland. You've got a good idea because Gooden could be signed for probably $5 million or less. I think our Knicks have at least $20 million in cap space so it is possible to get LeBron. I saw recently on the news that even if LeBron supports the idea of coach Izzo as coach in Cleveland, but Izzo said no. I think that LeBron can bring back the speed in D'antoni's famous run and gun offense that the Knicks haven't displayed in the past 2 years like in Phoenix. I think another good option for the Knicks is to probably go after, not Bosh, but maybe Yao Ming when he gets better from injury and if he doesn't like to stay in Houston any more. Not to mention, a lot more Chinese fans in NYC than Houston. Bottom Line NY Knicks lineup is PG- Sergio Rodriguez SG- Danilo Gallinari or Tracy McGrady (if NY can sign him back cheap) SF- LeBron James (he'd be our captain obviously) PF- David Lee or Jonathan Bender C- Yao Ming 6th man Eddie House or Al Harrngton get rid of Chris Duhon and Eddy Curry Keep Toney Douglas and Bill Walker Here a good trade http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=26elc9k. As for the NY Knicks Draft, draft Jerome Jordan from Tulsa and if Availiable, Lance Stephenson from Cincinnati, played High school basketball in NYC. During the draft, trade Bill Walker to NJ Nets for future 1st round pick (2011 to get Jimmer Fredette)
